Use parts from the Marketplace in your Things
Drop a hinge, a screw or a board mount from the Marketplace into your Thing as a linked part: configured on the way in ("M3 × 12, pan head"), pinned to a version, read-only until you unlink it, and counted in your Make list like any piece.
There are two ways to build on someone else's Thing. Remix gives you your own copy to change however you like. Use puts it into your Thing as a linked part: it stays connected to the original, so when the creator improves it, you hear about it.
Use is the right choice for parts you don't want to redesign: a hinge, a screw, an ESP32 mount, your company's standard bracket.
Three ways in
- From a listing page: Use in a Thing…, pick one of your Things (or a new one), the version and the configuration. Your Thing opens with the part placed beside the model.
- From the editor: ⌘K → Insert from Marketplace…, or Add → From the Marketplace… in the Thing tree. Search, pick, configure, insert. If a piece is selected, the part sits centred on top of it and is connected to it.
- From the agent: ask for a common part ("add a hinge", "M3 screw", "ESP32 mount"). Before building one from scratch, the agent shows the three best-rated matches from the Marketplace (and your team library) with their rating, license and whether they fit. Use this inserts one; Build it from scratch instead lets the agent model it.
Configure it on the way in
Parametric listings show their parameters when you use them: a screw's size, length and head, a hinge's lid thickness. Values are checked against the ranges the creator allowed. The configuration is saved with the part ("M3 × 12, pan head"), and you can change it later with Configure… on the part.
What a linked part does
A linked part is a normal piece in every way that matters: it renders, exports (STL, 3MF, STEP…), takes part in connections, fit check, DFM and the Make list. You can move it, recolour it and change its material.
Its recipe is read-only, so it stays identical to the version you picked. Select it and the Parameters panel says where it comes from, which version, the creator and the license.
Unlink to edit
Need to change its shape? Unlink to edit (in the Parameters panel or the part's menu in the Thing tree) turns it into your own, fully editable copy. The credit to the creator and the license stay on the pieces. An unlinked part no longer hears about new versions.
Team library and org marketplace
On a Team plan, release a team part to the Team library audience and everyone in the workspace can use it as a linked part. The Thing stays private. On Enterprise, the Org marketplace works the same way, but an admin approves each version first (Your listings → Waiting for approval), so engineers reuse only approved parts.
Creators get credit
The first time a Thing uses a listing, the listing counts it (Used in N Things) and the creator may earn reward credits. See Creator rewards for the amounts and the fair-play rules. The listing page also shows its dependency tree: what it uses and which listings use it.

Ideas
Update linked parts when a new version is out
Linked Marketplace parts are pinned to a version. When the creator releases a newer one you see “New version available” with what changed, and choose Update or Keep this version. Major versions warn you first.

Find and remix Things from the Marketplace
Search by words or by fit ("hinge for a 3 mm lid", "M3 standoff"), check printability and ratings, then remix a Thing into your workspace with its full history, its license and automatic credit to the creator.

Find something like this photo
Drop, paste or pick a photo in the Marketplace search box: we read what it is and its rough size, then show listings that look and mean the same, even when they use different words.
