Exporting your data and deleting your account
Take your work with you, or leave entirely. How to export your designs and data, what to do before deleting your account, and the safety nets along the way.
Your designs are yours. Solid Vibes lets you take them with you at any time, and delete your account yourself, without contacting anyone.
Both are found under Account. Press ⌘K (or Ctrl + K), type account, and look for the data export and delete options.
Getting your work out
There are two kinds of "export", and they answer different needs.
1. Export your designs as files
For the things you make, export in the standard formats:
| For | Format |
|---|---|
| 3D printing | 3MF, STL |
| Other CAD, shops | STEP |
| Drawings | PDF, DXF, DWG |
| Renders | PNG |
| Web and AR | GLB |
Which formats you can use depends on your plan (see Exporting and file formats). Even after a free trial ends, you can download STL files, and your designs are never deleted.
2. Export your account data
Solid Vibes is built to be GDPR-ready, and you can request an export of your data yourself from your account, rather than writing to support. This is the route for portability and for personal data you want a copy of.
Before you delete your account
Deletion is serious. Treat it as permanent, and go through this checklist first.
- Export what you want to keep: STEP, STL or 3MF files for each Thing, PDF drawings, and any renders.
- Download your data using the data export.
- Cancel any subscription from Billing & plan, and confirm it shows as canceled, so you are not billed again.
- Think about shared and public Things. Links you have shared will stop working. If other people depend on something you published, tell them first.
- Tell your collaborators, if you share a workspace with others.
- Check for anything in the trash you might still want. Items there can be recovered for 30 days, but only while your account exists.
Deleting your account
- Go to Account and choose Delete account.
- Read the confirmation screen carefully. It spells out what will be removed.
- Confirm.
Because this is irreversible, we recommend waiting a day after the checklist if you are not completely sure.
What deletion removes
Your account, your personal workspace, your Things and their history, files, concept images, renders, drawings and exports, and your profile data.
If you only want to leave a plan
You do not need to delete your account to stop paying. Cancel your plan, and your account stays, read-only, with your designs preserved and STL download available. You can come back whenever you like.
Individual deletions are gentler
If you only want to remove one Thing:
- Delete it. It goes to the trash for 30 days.
- It can be restored during that time.
- Version history means earlier states are kept as long as the Thing exists.
Your rights
Wherever privacy laws such as GDPR apply, you have rights over your personal data, including access, portability, correction and erasure. The self-serve tools above cover the common ones. For anything else, contact support.
Try it
Do a "fire drill" now, while nothing depends on it: export one Thing as STEP and PDF, open both in another program, and confirm you can use them. You will then know exactly how your exit works.
