Get a part made: instant estimate and quote requests
Pick a process, material, finish and quantity, see an instant price range and lead time, and send a quote request. Partners are on the way.
Not everything should come off your own printer. Make → Get it made shows what it would cost and how long it would take to have a part made by a shop, and lets you ask for real quotes.
Partners are coming soon. The network of print farms and shops is not open yet. You can already see an estimate and send a request. It is saved with your Thing and shows as Requested, partners coming soon until a real quote is ready.
Get an estimate
- Open Make → Get it made.
- Choose the pieces (if there are several), then a process:
- 3D print (FDM), Resin (SLA) or Powder (SLS)
- CNC machining
- Laser cutting for flat parts
- Sheet metal
- Pick a material, a finish and a quantity.
You get a price range and a lead time straight away.
How we get the number
It's a published rate card, not a guess. We take your part's volume and bounding box from the model, then add up:
- Material: weight times price per kilogram, plus waste. For CNC we price the block it is cut from. For laser and sheet metal, the flat sheet.
- Machine time: how long the machine works, at an hourly rate.
- Handling, your finish, and a one-off setup fee.
- A quantity discount, and a minimum order.
- The partner's margin.
Press How we got this to see every line. The result is a range and is always labelled estimate. A real shop prices from its own machines, its queue and the exact toolpath.
Things the estimate will tell you
- A part bigger than the usual size for that process gets a heads-up, because a shop may need to split it.
- Laser and sheet metal assume a flat part. If yours is chunky you'll see a note.
- Pieces with no solid geometry yet are left out.
Request quotes
Press Request quotes. We save your request with the options and the estimate you saw. You can see it in Your quote requests on the same page and cancel it while it is still waiting. When someone picks it up, the status changes and you get a notification.
Process plans: 3D printing quotes work on every plan. CNC, laser and sheet metal quotes need exact CAD, so they are part of Maker and up (STEP export). Quotes aren't available on a read-only account.
Become a partner
Run a print farm, a machine shop or a laser cutter? Press Become a partner, tell us what you make, and we'll write when the network opens.
Tips
- Check the part with Check first, so the shop receives something it can make.
- For CNC, send a drawing too: see Drawings for a CNC shop.
- A bigger quantity lowers the price per piece. The breaks are shown under the quantity field.
